Be there!: SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATE DEBATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT 6PM @ FRANKLIN HIGH SCHOOL

Philip Iglauer of the Northeast Los Angeles Coalition writes:

Hello, Friends and supporters of NELA Coalition:

The drop out rate at LA schools is alarming. It ranges from 25 to as much as 40 percent, depending on your source.

smf: Of course if you believe the sky-is-falling failure-bemoaners of the Mayor Tony stripe it’s 50%+  ….and, though unacceptable  -the national dropout rate is approximately 25%.

Yet, the LA City Clerk reported the voter turn out for the 2007 school board race, northeast LA's most recent school board election, as about 9 percent.

So, your participation is crucial to make education in Los Angeles better. Northeast LA Coalition in collaboration with Franklin High School
and a slew of local groups and community leaders will put on a LA School Board election candidate forum this Wednesday at 6:00PM.

Please forward this e-invite  among your friends, colleagues, family and others in your social network. Let's spread the word!
